Booking A Photographer — My Client Care Process

I get it. There are so many vendors you are inquiring with and asking quotes from, asking what you can expect, and you’re wondering about booking a photographer. Honestly, having been a bride before, I was flying by the seat of my pants constantly. I was confused with what exactly we were getting, what to expect leading up to the day, or how I could prepare.

I don’t want you to feel that way about booking your photographer.

So let’s lay it all out on the table.

From Inquiry to Booking

When you send me an inquiry (which you can do here), I respond back within 24 hours confirming my availability. I’ll then send you a link my Calendly where you can pick a time slot for a phone or Zoom call with me. This is so we can “meet”, get to know one another, and see if we vibe or not! It also gives me a chance to see if I can fulfill all your expectations, and if I’m a good fit for you. After our call, I’ll draw up a custom proposal for you and email it your way so you can have a clear picture before you make a decision.

From Booking to Your Next Steps

If everything seems amazing and you have decided to proceed, I’ll then send you our contract via email for you to read and sign, and to make your initial deposit. You’ll receive a confirmation email from me, as well as what you can expect for your next steps. (As a fun side note, I also like to send clients a little congratulatory gift in the mail, as a ‘thank you’ for booking me as your photographer!)

Being a bride before, I needed so much help with everything. I understand sometimes clients have a lot of questions, even about things not photography related and I want to reassure you that you can ask me anything! I always respond to emails, texts, phone calls, Messenger, and any other method of contact in a timely way. There’s absolutely no reason for you to have to wait weeks or even days to hear back from one of your vendors. As my client, our communication is a top priority for me, from the moment your inquiry lands in my inbox, all the way to gallery delivery.

From Next Steps to The Wedding Day

Once we’ve got you in the books, we start planning for any additional sessions you have added onto your package. If it’s an engagement session, we’ll decide on a date and location. Engagement sessions are amazing because it gives us a chance to really get to know one another and hang out! Also it gives you a glimpse on how it will be working with me on your wedding day! (Read the article here on why I think engagement sessions are so important.) We’ll then work on scheduling any other sessions (such as my editorial bridal sessions, which are my favorite!).

Then aside from answering any questions you might have along the way, about a month before your wedding I will gather your final wedding details and information. I’ll ask this of either your planner, coordinator, or your preferred point of contact.

In case it needed to be said again — I’m here for you. Whether it’s wondering where to rent backdrops or if I recommend a florist, I’m here. I always tell my couples, “Look, I know sometimes we’re laying on our backs, drifting off to sleep when suddenly, we remember we needed to ask a question before we forget again. I don’t care if it’s 11:59PM — if you want, text me! If I’m asleep, I’ll respond in the morning. You aren’t bothering me. I’m here for you.

From Wedding Day to Gallery Delivery

On the wedding day I’ll arrive and begin my coverage by our agreed-on start time. I’ll have outlined for you what I typically capture by then, so you can rest easy knowing I have my shot list and any other additions you requested be captured.

You’ll then receive your full wedding gallery within 60 days. After your gallery is delivered, I will send off anything that you included in your package. Any print orders, glass USBs, framed canvases, or wedding albums. (Note: these can be added on or ordered at any time!)

If you can’t tell already, I love what I do. I love that my job is making the best memories happen for you. Making them happen while the hair is being styled and the boutonnières are fastened. While the cake is being placed, the florals are arranged, and the friends start pulling into the venue. The ceremony space before anyone sits down, and the reception full of your family.

And I’m here for it all.

Are we meant to be friends? Let’s do this! Send me an inquiry here to start the ball rolling on booking me as your photographer for your wedding day.
